When you want the very best in music, experience is the key. The four members of the Golden Gate String Quartet, led by John Tenney, have more than 125 years of combined experience, and have played music of every kind all over the world. The other six core members of the Ensembles add another 175 years, give or take a couple of decades. Such seasoned musicians can give you exactly what you need, be it for a wedding, corporate event or elegant party.

Besides the traditional string quartet (also trio, duo and solo), the Ensembles offer a Salon Orchestra, playing lush arrangements from the 1890s to the 1940s, the golden age of popular music. Gershwin, Berlin, Porter... it's all here, along with waltzes, rumbas, rags and more. There are also Strolling Strings--you can have as many as you want, from a soloist to a full orchestra--that add more modern songs to the "golden age" repertoire.

Another strong point is our flexibility. You can have two or more groups that sound completely different, for little more than the price of one, just by adding one or two musicians. When you combine versatility with careful attention to the details of every event, you can be sure of a superior performance. As Niki Ballard said of her 2002 wedding at Sausalito's Alta Mira Hotel, "You and your group were wonderful and provided us with everything we wanted--how often does THAT happen?"
